Bomb Farm Fusion, Rarity and Soulbound Hero Rules

Bomb Farm uses duplicates in several upgrade systems, so “combine” is not precise enough. Before selecting materials, confirm whether the screen will create a new item or hero, add a star to an existing hero, reveal a sealed drop, or perform a Forge upgrade.

Fusion creates a new result

The August 31 update changed how Soulbound materials affect fusion. Items and heroes created through Ritual fusion no longer inherit the Soulbound status of the five materials. The new result is created unbound and may be sent to Steam when it also meets the remaining rarity and Market-access requirements.

This is not a promise that every result can be sold. Market access, eligibility, and the card’s current status still apply. Read the result preview and tooltip before assuming market value.

Soulbound cages remain Soulbound

Heroes obtained by opening Soulbound cages remain Soulbound. Opening the cage does not wash the restriction away. The distinction matters because a fusion result is newly created, while a cage reveals a hero under the cage’s binding rule.

The September 1 patch also says drops granted after an extended period without receiving rewards are Soulbound, while regular drops remain tradable. Always inspect the source and card rather than applying one rule to every reward.

Star Ritual upgrades the existing hero

Star Ritual works differently. It upgrades an existing hero rather than creating a new one, so the fusion binding change does not apply. The August 31 fix corrected a confirmation-area overlap and clarified that a successful Star Ritual adds the star, consumes three Gems, and deducts Gold.

Before using Star Ritual:

1. Confirm the selected hero is the intended long-term target.
2. Remove any ambiguity caused by similar portraits or duplicate cards.
3. Check the three selected Gems.
4. Confirm the Gold cost and expected star.
5. Recheck Soulbound status after the result, not from memory.

Rarity is one part of value

A higher rarity can provide a stronger attribute range, but the correct hero still depends on role, actual attributes, ability, Birth Rank, Energy, and current team need. Consuming the last useful Collector or Specialist can damage total farm output even if the fusion creates a higher frame.

Use this retention rule:

• Keep at least one functional hero for every role the current rotation needs.
• Protect heroes with rare or essential abilities until a replacement exists.
• Compare Birth Rank only inside the broader rarity and attribute context.
• Avoid consuming a hero merely because its Market price appears low today.
• Take a screenshot of the materials and preview before a high-value fusion.

Fusion versus selling

Fusion converts several materials into one chance at a more useful result. Selling preserves currency value but removes the material from the account. The correct choice depends on whether the account needs power, collection progress, roster depth, or liquidity.
